I whish to know about thev pianist Alexander Brailowsky, he is not in the Great Pianist of the 20 th century. There is not available information.Someone can explain me about this forgotten pianist.

Welcome to the forum! Its great to have new people arrive. I'm sorry, but I've never heard of Alexander Brailowsky. Or I might have but if I have, I don't remember it. The name sounds a little fimiliar from somewhere but I could be mistaking it for someone eles. Maybe somebody eles here knows who this person is and can help you. Well, I hope you enjoy your membership here. Its nice to be able to get different opinions and views from several different people on various topics.

I had some recordings of Brailowsky back in the dim, dark ages when classical recordings were still coming out on 45 rpm and extended-play 45rmp. (How many of you remember those?) He probably made it into the LP era, too. He was considered something of a Chopin specialist at the time, although I don't know that his style of playing Chopin would still be considered exemplary. My tastes, too, have evolved; I don't know whether I would like his style today, either.
In the Summer 2000 issue of International Piano Quarterly he is mentioned in a discography of the Schumann Fantasie, on RCA LM 9003 (LP)circa 1951.

A few of Brailowsky's (or as a friend of mine calls him, BraiLOUSY)recordings have been rereleased on Sony's budget label Essential Classics. There are versions of him playing the Chopin Polonaises, Waltzes, and Sonata in B minor. If Brailosky was a great pianist, he was well past his prime when these stereo recordings were made, because they're terrible.
The few released Brailowsky's CDs are all available here in US. I don't know about anything regarding the CD market in Argentina. His complete Chopin Waltzes CD is a collector's item. The CDs I have are quite satisfying. He was one of the pianistic giants in his heyday. In the early '20s and '30s he offered the complete Chopin piano music in consecutive recitals in Paris that were world news. His playing was always of very high quality. Yes, to today's classical circles he is relatively an unknown name.
