Do you remember the PIANO BATTLE!! - 11/17/07 03:32 PM

Have you all seen the movie 'the legend of 1900'?
And do you remember the piano battle?

Watching the movie, I thought maybe if the battle can take place in 2007,

"who will be the best opponents?"

For me, I want to see Yundi li and Kissin having piano battle.. how interesting it is to see them play Listz and Chopin.

I'd like to see Evgeny Kissin vs. Valentina Lisitsa. both are technique titans and it'd be interesting to see them duke it out.

I'd want to see Kissin/Tiempo go at it.

Well, I think so far Kissin has won because he is in each match-up suggested so far. ;\)

I'd have to ask the same question: What's the point?

... as much point as I think there must be to some of the reality shows that I'm told are on TV these days; trying to name someone "the best" so we can "trash" all those who aren't!

(North) America needs to "get a life!"

hahaha, that was clever.
actually apple cheek is from South Korea, i guess South korea has a life still.

But you and I in (North) America, we still live in a place that doesn't have a life. haha

I think I'm going to start today looking for (North) America's lost life. =)

I'm sorry if this post has bothered you. I didnt mean it.

Actually I wasnt thinking about who is winning or who is getting a life... Rather, the point was on the battle itself.

My question was that if, by any chance, this piano battle - not competetion - takes place, who would be the most interesting pianists to take part in the battle for you in contemporary world.

Besides whether who's winning or not, isnt it interesting to think about? \:\)

As lifelong advocate of seeing a lighter side to most things, in this case let's keep the sublime away from the ridiculous please.

Whatever one's opinions of this or that pianist may be, they are all entitled to maintain dignity. Piano battle indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chopin Vs. Liszt

yea....i went there.

Re: Do you remember the PIANO BATTLE!! - 11/18/07 01:43 PM

hmmm, chopin dedicated his first set of etudes to Liszt because he said that Liszt played them better than he did. He just didn't like all the extra ornamentations Liszt added.

Isn't there a story that Liszt sight-read Chopin's first set of etudes. As much as I love Chopin, Liszts sight reading and technique was phenomenal.

I appreciate your thought, and I am sure you didn't mean to "bother" anyone by your post. Let's not worry about it.

I second the vote for Horowitz and Richter. It would be facinating. Especially them both being dead and all... \:\)
