Piano long not touch

Piano long not touch - 05/20/02 12:25 AM

Hi,

If a piano is not being played and service for 11+ years, will there be any problem to the piano or the mechanism? What is the likely problem that will happen to the piano or the mechanism?

Thanks

It will certainly need 2 or more tunings (a "pitch raise") before it will be stable enough to hold a tune. Some tuners do the tunings all in one day; I prefer to separate them by 3-4 weeks to allow the piano to stabilize. Yes, they are both full price tunings. As far as action work, if it was stored in high humidity, you may have some sluggish keys due to swelling. Moths and mice may be a factor too. Good Luck......Sam
