Suggestions for keyboard amp for low volume gigs - 10/17/12 11:40 PM
Any suggestions for a a small keyboard amp for low volume gigs (restaurants, small venues)? It is for a jazz duo: guitar, keyboards and voice. The keyboard is a Yamaha Motif and I'll be using a split keyboard with piano or Rhodes sound on top and an upright bass sound on the bottom. Vocals won't go through that amp. Thanks for the input!

I don't own one myself, but have a friend who loves his Mackey SRM-150. (think I remembered the model number correctly)

I like my Motion Sound KPS-100. If your keyboard outputs stereo like my Yamaha P90, I particularly recommend it. I sure would like something lighter though.

A further comment on the stereo aspect... My KPS-100 does a great job of taking advantage of the stereo output. I don't know why that helps the sound so much, but on the two occasions that one of the plugs wasn't plugged in, and I was playing mono, the difference was dramatic.
I usually have the volume at 5/10, and have never needed it up all the way even for dance gigs.
