Here's a theme & a few variations I composed today. PJ talked about variations having once been a form of light entertainment. This is light entertainment, and the idea is that everyone can chime in with their own variations on my four-measure theme. I'm sharing this thing now before composing more. The current last variation is the most interesting one thus far.

Midi (should be about a minute and a half):

Welcome aboard! Perhaps we can get a full crew during the weekend.

What a fun idea for Piano World. Sandy B

If only more people thought so.

OK, I'll compose as many new variations as others compose them together. If Signa composes one, and nobody else composes anything, you'll get one more from me, as opposed to, say, ten more. (I'm not sure whether people would see that as a good or a bad thing...)

Here's a variation on the 4th measure:

No, it's the other way around. My fourth measure is a variation on *it*. My third measure is a variation on Diabelli Variations. My first two measures are a variation on the measures 25-32 of my own variations, Op. 2007 No. 10.
