HI Everyone,
I have a new recording which is really *different* from my others. I recorded an audioBOOK about my life as a pianist/composer/touring artist/recording artist. The book is filled with all my hopes, dreams, errors, flops, successes....and follows my quest for a measurement of success in the strange world of the music business. I had a ball recording the book and it is sprinkled with bits of my piano creations in between sections. This is now available on Amazon.com and there is even a free sample that you can listen to before deciding whether it is your cup of tea. To hear it, go to Amazon.com and type in the book title, "Naked on the Bench: My Adventures in Pianoland." Oh, did I mention I once had a gig at a "clothing optional" resort?
Yours in music,
Robin Spielberg

Post pictures! As we say on the Piano Forum, if there are no pictures it didn't happen! grin

Actually....at the very end of the gig, about 50 of the audience members got together around the piano for a photo. They signed waivers allowing their photos to be taken, but not posted. I wanted proof that this gig happened and wasn't just a dream. It is one hilarious photo. I should point out, that while I truly bared my soul for the concert, that was all I bared. They were a fun and friendly bunch...and they all had a great vacation. All they had to pack was a toothbrush! -Robin

Hi! I have to admit that I succumbed to the title ha and took a listen. I have to admit also that it didn't hurt what you mentioned at the very end of your post.
What can I tell you -- I think deep down, if we dig far enough, we're all Beavis and Butthead. Or some of us are anyway. grin

On a perhaps more serious note, I find it nicely engaging how you mention "errors" and "flops" along with dreams, successes, and hopes.

About the audio: I think most of us here might assume that the audio is music. I sure did, and I was a little disappointed that it's 'just' speaking, at least as far as I listened, which was about a minute's worth. Besides that, my main reaction was to the quality of your voice, which I find very lovely and perhaps we might say seductive (and I mean it positively, I think) ha ....rather than the content, which wasn't doing much for me, although maybe it was just because 'words' weren't what I was ready for. I think someone has to be in a certain frame of mind in order for the content to be most effective. But anyway, in such a medium the way something is said and how it sounds count a lot, and on that level, I 'got' it.

Good luck with it! smile

Thanks for checking it out Mark and for your feedback. Yes the audio book is just that, a BOOK. The content is words, words, words, with some of my music sprinkled throughout (ends/beginnings of chapters). The book is available in softcover, but with today's technology it seems a lot of folks listen to audiobooks while driving...or order "E-books" for their devices...so the book is available in all of these formats.
Thanks again! Robin
