Ragtime nickelodeon advice - 02/20/11 03:39 AM

Hi all,
I have an older (about 6 years old) ragtime nickelodeon (with piano, snare and base drums, tambourine, and accordion) that needs the pinboard replaced and restrung/pinned. It won't hold a tune, some pins snap back after being tightened (tuned). It will cost around 2-3k to fix. I paid $1150 (950 for the nick and 200 moving), is it worth fixing and are there cheaper alternatives to a complete restring/pin job? The cabinet is fine as is the entire nickelodeon mechanics (that works fine). Any advice would be great so I can figure out wht to do with this nick. Thank you, Rick.

If it is only 6 years old, wouldn't there be some type of warranty on it from the factory? Might look into that. See if they'll re-pin or replace the pin block under a manufacturers warranty.
