what is the different between Yamaho p60 or p120 - 04/19/04 06:43 PM

I am a beginner of playing piano. I am looking for a digital piano. I am no knowledge of it. I read all the question and answer from the forums. There is no one to mention the Yamaho p60. Is it good for the beginner. The cost different is USD$400 between p60 and p120. Which one I should pick. Please comment!

One of the biggest differences between the P60 and P120 is the amount of polyphony. The P60 has 32, the P120 has 64 (as a general[/b] rule, go for the one with more). I'm fairly certain (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that the sample quality in the P120 is better (if anything, it would be the same). There are aslo a few other differences between the two (the P120 has a couple more voices, built in sequencer, etc.). Although the keyboard (touch/feel) is the same on both models.

As Zymtil mentioned, the P120 is better in terms of polyphony and sample quality. Personally, I would not buy the P60 because for a few hundred dollars more you can get a much better digital. The P120 is great if you need speakers, but if you're looking to save some money, consider the P90. It has the same amount of polyphony as the 120, but it doesn't have speakers.

The differences between the p120 and p60 are:

*The p60 has 32 note polyphony while the p120 has 64 note polyphony.

*The p60's pianos are only one dynamic layer and the p120's are 3 dynamic layers with sustain, key off, string resonance, and soundboard modelling.

*The p60's speakers are not as great as the p120's.

*The key to sound connection on the p60 is not great, but good for the price. The p120 has superb key to sound connection.

The p60 is a begginer piano, the p120 is a Professional Stage Piano. The p120 is better in every way.

the p120 is a Professional Stage Piano. [/b]

You must be playing on some tiny little stages if you think a P120 is a professional stage piano.

But will it toast bagels too - *that* is the question.

No, the Yamaha P120 is a portable piano for those who hope they are someday going to play on a stage.

Things I have never seen:

1. A keyboard player on stage playing a P120
2. A keyboard player getting paid after playing a P120

The Yamaha P120 is a profesional stage piano, period.

It is in Yamaha's pro stage piano line and it is a pro stage piano.

I am correct, and you guys are wrong. Sorry.

Here is Yamaha's website. You'll notice that the only one of the 'P'Series labeled Professional Stage Piano is the P250.

The P120 is *not* a professional stage piano. It's one notch above Kmart models. The only people who think it's a professional stage model are little wannabe rock stars in high school.

p120dUde, the P120 is a brick of crap, profsesioanl or not. And if it really was pro gear, it gets trounced by legitimate competition. My opinion of course, and I'm sure you don't like it.

A Roland RD700 is a professional stage piano. The P120 is a toy- a notch above a Kmart or Radio Shack keyboard. If you don't believe me then you're just plain stunned.

The p120 is not a brick of crap, and it is a pro stage piano. It is absolutely superb, in my opinion. Its da bomb.

The p120 is not a toy, it is a pro stage piano. The Roland RD700 to me is a piece of crap, but thats my opinion. I am not stunned, or whatever that is. I think you, in my opinion, are a loser.

The p120 is a professional stage piano, period. It kicks all the pianos butts out there, in my opinion.

No, you are stunned plain and simple. I couldn't care less what you think of the Roland although you may want to throw your opinion by Jon Lord for the sake of a laugh or two. You're not a loser though- you are already lost.

The Yamaha P120 is a Kmart toy. The only people who think it is a professional stage piano are little high school boys who daydream about being big rock stars.

But if you rewire it a little, you can cook a mean pizza!

I wouldn't dream of using a P120 as a stage piano. My "professional" stage piano is my Motif ES8 with 1Gig of sample RAM into which I load my Bolder Steinway sample libraries. I run this into an SPL GainStation preamp which I use to split the signal to the sound guy and my Barbetta stage amp. With the GainStation I can send a very hot and very clean signal over a long run to the board. My other stage keyboards are Clavia's Nord Lead 3 and Electro 2.

I think it's clear who doesn't know very much. If you were really a professional keyboard player you wouldn't say the things you do. I base my judgements on careful listening, shootouts, and sometimes trial and error. I don't base them on magazine or internet reviews and certainly not glossy advertizing lit.
