I found an old piano last night that was practically a give away, now I'm just trying to find out some more info.
It's an OLD upright, the name on it says Arion of New York. It appears to be quite old and needs some work, but will work fine until my wife and I finish school and can afford a nice one.
Does anyone have any information or links where I could find some info about the brand and all?

Thanks in advance.

Per the Piano Atlas:

Arion Piano is a very old name, with serial numbers starting in 1869. They never made a lot of pianos, and the label was used by Estey from 1885 through 1920. If you will post the serial number, I can tell you approximately the year it was built.

Before someone tells you to haul it to the dump, let me say that it may indeed work fine until you get the wherewithal to upgrade to something better. Condition will be the key, and you will need to have a piano tech have a look at it before you decide to put any money in to it. It may be possible to make it playable, or the cost to do so may be such that you decide to wait until something better comes along.

If you are expecting a high performance, modern sounding piano, you will be disappointed. If you just want something to play (and are not too fussy) you may be able to wring a few more years of life out of it.

Enjoy!
