Hello,
Does anyone know approximately what a Lester spinet piano from the
40's is worth. The piano is in very good condition on the outside, and
was reconditioned a few years ago. The inside looks good to me, very
clean and newish looking, nothing obviously wrong, (but what do i
know), It hasn't been tuned in about 4 years, but still is in decent
tuning. The only thing that i'm aware of that is wrong is a couple of
the keys don't sound correctly, that is, they are sort of slightly
muffled, maybe the hammers need some sort of adjusting or alignment or
something. The action is pretty lght, and the sound is sort of
bright..but in general, it plays fine, and sounds fine.

Thanks.

Thanks Steve.

Just to be clear...reading my post back, I realized that it might seem that I meant that just the outside was reconditioned (maybe it was, it looks nice), but what I meant was that the insides were reconditioned.

Does the $200-$500 price stand?

Thanks again!

JBenson,
Make sure they have replaced any plastic "elbow joints" in the action. I grew up playing a Lester spinet made in 1954 and the darn elbow joints were constantly breaking within a few years after we bought it, especially if you tried to play anything f or ff.
It was incredibly frustrating! I'd be very wary of them but good luck!

I will second the estimated value.
There is simply very little demand for old spinets, even if they are in perfect condition.
