wzkit, the fallboard looks gorgeous. It is a little dark but I lightened it up on Photoshop to see it. For some reason I thought you were only getting the cheekblocks in walnut. Very beautiful. Did you order the hygrometer as well? or is this a "seasoned for the destination" option? Can't wait to see pictures of it setup. Regards Gene

Wzkit,
Those are really great pictures. The worker, in the last picture, on the right looks like he's ready to pass out!

Just love that fallboard! Check out my new pics!

I was kidding with them, saying that carrying the piano up 24 stories was just like a combat engineer's job in the Army (especially during bridging operations). He said, "No, this is worse! You can just throw the bridge around, but you can't throw this piano around!" . Those days in the army...

Derick [/b] Indeed..I gave up watching after the 12th floor, and decided it would be better for me to just wait for them back on the 24th floor. That way, they wouldn't be disturbed by my incessant clicking, and I would not be die of a heart attack in the process!

At 24 flights that could get into some serious money! (Were your elevators too small to accommodate that piano standing upright on the front end?) Congratulations!

my my....it is indeed a beautiful piano. I agree with monica, there is no way i could watch them carry it up without getting a high blood pressure/ heart attack ready to happen. How much did you pay them to get it up to your place? I was lucky enough to have the piano fit into the lift. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Chickgrand! The elevator was indeed too small..which resulted in me forking an extra S$3.4K (approx US$2.2K) to haul the thing up. Movers here charge by the floor, usually between S$150-200 per floor, which isn't all that difference from US costs, except that its denominated in the local currency (US$1 = S$1.6)

Did you say $2200 How many weeks did it take them and how many lives were lost? Lovely piano and you must be one dedicated pianist. Your neighbours must also be very understanding.

It took them all of 2 hours, from the first to the 24th floor. Amazing guys.
I won't call myself a dedicated pianist...just a very passionate amateur!
And to avoid disturbing my neighbours, I had acoustic panelling on my walls, velvet curtains and a 1 inch thick rug. The piano sounds just nice now as a result - nice and warm, not too loud. Even the roaring bass, which I had encountered in the factory, has been tamed, and is much more subtle now, though no doubt waiting to reveal itself once the hammers are more worn in!

You don't have an elevator in your building?
They can "keyboard" a piano to slide it in to an elevator. But I understand this information is a bit late. ;^)
Congratulations. Look beautiful! Can't wait for the invitation to your piano party...

Wow! That is the most steps I have ever seen a piano go up or down! Was a crane too expensive? Not feasible due to small windows? That is one honey of a piano Love the fallboard and the hygrometer. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
