Tiny Grand Piano Can Be Played with a Toothpick

FOUR craftsmen took six months to build a two-inch-square working model of a Steinway grand piano, illustrated below.

Played with a toothpick, it has thirty-six ivory keys and is strung like a full-size instrument. With other objects in the photo —miniature enamel furniture, and a dancing girl’s toe bell from Bombay, India, displayed on a finger —it forms part of a private collection of 28,500 curios from fifty-four countries exhibited recently in San Francisco.

From an article in Popular Science, Dec. 1940

Have to wonder how you tune it :-)

I would think by now it's due for new hammers & strings at least...maybe even a complete rebuild including soundboard... \:\)

That's really neat! I wonder if it has crowned soundboard and working sustain pedal. \:D

Uh oh...I can hear a whole bunch of puns coming from Trucker, among others, regarding the pieces that can be played on this piano:

A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You, Little Bit O' Soul, A Little Bit of Heaven, Little Bitty Girl, Little Bitty Pretty One, A little Bitty Tear, Little Black Book, Little Deuce Coup, Little Woman, Little Devil

Composed by Tiny Tim and Tiny Hill, or Little Eva, or Little Caesar and the Romans

and my favorite
Little Anthony and the Imperials...

But since puns are a little play on words, I shouldn't be taken literally....

Have a good weekend

Has anyone tried playing a full-sized grand piano with a giant toothpick?
