This message posted with the kind permission of PianoWorld...

This is pianist David Nevue, the program director for Whisperings: Solo Piano Radio at http://www.solopianoradio.com .

How would you like a chance to win a beautiful, digital grand piano?

Whisperings: Solo Piano Radio, along with Galileo Music are giving away a digital grand piano to one lucky person.

What's the catch?

We'd like your help raising money to benefit children's charities. [/b]

To enter the contest, just buy a $5 raffle ticket, which goes to benefit these charties.
You can buy as many tickets as you like.

On September 1st, we'll draw a ticket at the Whisperings concert in Cape Cod, MA and give away a Digital Grand Piano. You don't have to be present at the concert to win.

Even if you don't win the piano, you win by helping kids in need.

For more information on the raffle, the charities, and the digital grand piano prize, visit the Whisperings web site at http://www.solopianoradio.com/concerts/giveaway.htm [/b]

Thanks so much!

David Nevue

David,

Thanks for that info. It looks like the money raised will go to a GREAT cause.

I had an opportunity to play one of those Galileos just like the one in the raffle and it is an amazing digital. The sound and touch is absolutely fantastic. It's definitely one I wouldn't mind having.

Ken

I bought a book of tickets. It's the least I can do to offer a small amount of support for this good work. Thank you, Mr. Nevue.

A side note -- I bought the CD "Whisperings" a few months ago, based on comments about it here, and I have really enjoyed listening to it. Wonderful music!

Bought a book for my sister, she'd love to have a piano, any piano :-)

Come on folks, here's a great chance to win a digital piano, and help some very worthwhile charities. Buy the tickets for yourself, or as gifts (or both).

Got my raffle tickets in the mail. LOL I totally didn't expect that. I was willing to take their word that I was entered.

I'm glad to donate to a worthy cause. And should I be lucky enough to win a piano, even better. \:D

Question: how does a "digital grand piano" differ from some other kind of "digital" piano? Are there digital vertical pianos??? Is a "digital grand piano" anything other than a digital keyboard with a button that says "Grand Pianos" on it? I see the instrument in question has a lid that hinges at one end - is that the defining chartacteristic?
I find this terminology could confuse people...

I wish the fundraiser well and hope they can raise a lot of money for children's charities. And I also hope no one thinks they are going to win a grand piano

It's a digital in a grand case, Jurgen. The sound should be the same as any digital, but it will look jazzier: ;\)

I bought my book of tickets some time ago but may buy another to up my chances. I want that digital! \:D

I bought a book for my sister, and one for myself. Might buy another.

Probably the closest I'll even get to owning a grand piano :-)

I have rarely been lucky in winning raffles but for the cause here I have bought a book. My wife is even more averse to raffles but recently we have won a couple. Three times lucky??

Alan,

I rarely win anything either, although I have won a few things over the years.

This is a case of the cause being more valuable then the prize.

I see you're from England, and therefore likely not familiar with the Hole In The Wall Gang organization.
Here in the States, it's a highly regarded organization dedicated to bringing some joy into the lives of terminally ill kids who have little to be joyous about.

It's money well spent.

http://www.holeinthewallgang.org/

"It is here that children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses find camaraderie, joy and a renewed sense of being a kid. They also get to do things that no one knew they were capable of doing."

Thanks!

(j/k)

By the way - I looked at how much money they collected in the end, and it was only a few thousand. They'd be better off selling the $10,000 piano and donating that.
