I have an H. C. Bay grand piano that has been in my family for about 60 - years. It was somewhat of an antique when my parents bought it in 1948. I am trying to determine the true age of the piano however I cannot locate a serial number. I would appreciat any information about this piano and in particular, I would appreciate any help in locating the serial number.

Thank you
David

H.C.Bay piano was one of the first to make many pianos with any name the dealer wanted(Stencil)
It was the first grand to advertise a grand for $595.00. They were in Blufton Ind. 1914-1929
Ser#'s from 3000 to 23000 They made 1000 to 1500 piano per year.If you put your hand under it and feel the thickness of the rim it's about a half inch thick. A really bad cheap piano. Sorry, but you asked.
Serial could be any place. Maybe get under with a light. Stamped on bottom of sound board. It should be easy to see it, if I remember right it had no posts under it.

Thank you VGrantano.

I appreciate your honest answer. I am thinking about selling it because it is to big for our home and not knowing much about pianos, I am trying to set a fair price. Your comments help.

I am still trying to find the serial number but so far - no luck

Thank you again for your prompt reply.
David

Certainly under $1500 if it is all original. Maybe less.
