K.Kawai on a grand is fine. Watch out for the Y. Yamaha, though.

Is Kawai better than Yamaha? It would probably help if we had more information as toward your goals and specific choices.

I believe there is a great thread on the forum called "Adult beginner in Singapore: Buying new piano.", which might be of more help.

I don’t think there is any different between K. Kawai and Kawai. My guess would be K. Kawai was name after the founder, Koichi Kawai.

Kawai and Yamaha are both established piano and they are among the best from Japan. There is no better between the two brands, just different tone characteristic and touch feel. To me, both pianos have a bright tone. Maybe, Kawai sounds mellower and feels heavier as compare to Yamaha.

Have you tried both pianos and what do you think about the two pianos? Have you tried other piano brands before short listing your piano search to only these 2 brands? If not, I would suggest you to play as many pianos as you can find and compare them. You will never know you find a piano that meets your price and your taste. Yamaha and Kawai are not the only pianos available in the piano industry. 

Btw, which models are you referring to for the Yamaha and Kawai? My understanding is that they make different ranges of models which represent different quality materials, constructions, and country of origins which there will differ in overall quality.

Till then happy shopping.
Regards

i am sorry to say i don't really know about the models.
but, i would prefer a piano that has a deeper tone, where it won't be like very light and sharp.
my budget is around 50k of ringgir malaysia, which is about 15k in US dollar.

i am more secure to KAWAI as it is said that fully Japan made compared to YAMAHA where some of the piano i encounter is made from Indonesia.

Below USD 15K, you have Kawai GE/GM, Yamaha G, Young Chang, Wagner, Samick, Challen, C. Steinbert, Wendl & Lung, Perzina, Ritmuller.

For USD 18-30K, Kawai RX, Yamaha C, Petrof V / IV / III.

Pianos available in Msia is very limited. For now, I can only think of these pianos. Good Luck....

K. Kawai was named in honor of the founder Koichi Kawai.

Go to: www.kawaius.com for info and specs.

Both Kawai and Yamaha are fine pianos.
Choose whichever has the best touch and tone for your particular use. Only you can determine what's best for your needs. Obviously I prefer Kawai \:\)

Best of luck with the piano of your choice.

there is no different between K.Kawai and Kawai pianos.

I have a 2nd hand K.Kawai KG-2E, they don't sell those anymore but if you can find one, well it's a good grand piano
