I have a K. Kawai GS-40, manufactured 1986. Thinking about upgrading - I have the $$ and the room! Love the Kawai product. I play for my own enjoyment every day. Classically trained as a kid - play jazz as an adult. What might I be interested in looking at? Thanks for your views.

Well, if you like Kawai product and plays jazz now, try their CA series digital pianos. laugh

I've seen talented jazz pianists/keyboardists do amazing arrangements on the fly with high end digital pianos. wink

But if you want to stick to acoustic piano, though, there are two places to check out Kawai products in the Greater Boston area:

Here: http://www.londonderrypiano.com/directions.html
(Go compare the 7' Kawai RX-6 with the 7' M&H BB in the same showroom, see what you think.)

And here: http://msteinert.com/stores/?info=store&id=1
(Ask to play their 7' Boston GP215, a Kawai-built instrument, and compare to their 7' Steinway Model B on the same floor, see what you think. Also don't forget to check out their used piano lot, might find some gems there.)

There's a big world out there besides Kawai, so other places to check out:

http://www.bostonorganandpiano.com/contact.html (just go visit their Natick store's "Connoisseur Room" and have fun... lots of good stuff there)

http://rogers-piano.com/ (check out their August Förster and Petrof pianos)

http://darrellsmusichall.com/ (check out their big Yamaha and Petrof pianos)

Assuming you're not in a hurry to upgrade, best way to do it is to play them all, a few times over, and pick the one you like best within your budget.

(Of course, acoustic and digital are not mutually exclusive... you can always have both.)
