We just acquired an antique Vose & Sons 4' 9" baby grand. On the Internet I find conflicting year built dates using the Serial #. At least I think I am using the Serial #.
I find a sticker with an old number on the iron metal near the tuning pins of 96220. The 9 might be an 8 but with a magnifying glass it looks more like a 9. Next to that sticker is another sticker that says Style X
There is a stamped number in the wood on the bottom of the removable piece that the sheet music stands on. That number is 94769. The 6 could be an 8 but I am pretty sure it is a 6.

Can you help me date my piano? Is the serial # the number found on the iron next to the tuning pins or would it be the number stamped into the wood? When the movers removed the legs there were numbers on them but I forgot to write them down and now of course the legs are tightly secured and out of sight.
