OK Folks, here it is, our first Adult Beginner's Forum Recital. So, pull up a chair and have a listen.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask the audience to please
refrain from commentary in this recital room[/b].

A separate room has been provided for the purposes of intermezzo discussion. Please take any and all comments to the Discussion Room .

Copper has amazingly grouped ALL the music pieces together into four zip files. So if you don't want to wait for one file at a time it might be better to be download all the files to your harddrive or burn them to CD.

PW ABF Recital Part 1 20MB
PW ABF Recital Part 2 21MB
PW ABF Recital Part 3 21MB
PW ABF Recital Part 4 15MB

ENJOY! \:\)

. Music description : Well, what can you say about Bach? My early piano teacher was the organist of our Lutheran church, and I learned to love Bach (and organs) from her. This is the first piece I learned after the long break from piano. It was a little scary at first, because Iíd try to play the music and these weird disorganized jumbles of notes would come out. But itís been really fun, too.

BOB MUIR'S NOTE: This piece was so amazing for someone with only two monthís experience, that I asked for more detail, this is what Tomas said:

ďI began playing piano because my friend played this beautiful song, and I asked if she could teach it to me. Although she thought I would never take it seriously, she gave me a couple of drills to practice and I had them down pretty well in a day or so, so she gave me another drill, then had me practice some measures from the song (each hand individually), showed me how to read sheet music, and pretty soon I could play pretty well.

Aside from the initial drills and instruction on music reading, I would say that I am self-taught and the last few songs I've learned have been entirely on my own. The only method I use is to slow play the song and work my way up to tempo. . but I should add that I am quite obsessive and often practice two hours a day, almost every day, sometimes more - especially when I was starting out.Ē

. Music description : This is the second movement of a Sonata in F minor with this movement in the key of F major. I have played this in studio class before and this is also part of my test program for a Royal American Conservatory Test I will be taking in the Winter.

I think this recording is actually better than my previous performance but I still feel I could do better but gave up on getting perfect for the session and I didn't want to edit it for this, probably because I haven't figured out all the ins & outs of the software yet and also because you can't edit a live performance. I really am not sure I mixed this down at the right quality as the sound quality itself in the original wave was definitely better but it was 24Mb and I figured that would be way too large.

Anyway I hope you enjoy it, thanks for the opportunity to play with this computer recording stuff.

Instrument used: Kawai grand piano at church, sorry I forgot to note the model, 6' or slightly under Recording method: Just used the pulpit microphone to record to a cassette tape, then used Line In to Audacity

Source: Sonatina Album, p.38, ed. Allan Small, Alfred Masterwork Edition Music description : Classical. Very beautiful piece, I still have a ways to go to make it sound as beautiful as it ought to. The other movements are great too.

Disclaimer: I made a 20 minute test tape a couple of weeks ago, then planned to go in for a two-hour recording session Monday night when the church was empty. 30 minutes after I arrived, the local symphony orchestra showed up for an "emergency" rehearsal, and that shot my recording for the evening. So here is a bit from my test tape. It is sort of erratic, trying too hard not to miss notes. I can only go up from here!
