Hello everyone,

I'm very happy to be allowed on this forum...and would like to start of with a burning question:

Does anyone know what's the difference between a C3 and a C3 studio?
I'm looking into buying either a 2005 grey-import C3 or a 2004 dealer-owned C3 studio. According to a posting on a site I read that the studio version of the C3 has cheaper parts, especially partaining to mechanics and soundboard. The pianos sound similar, my preference leaning toward the studio C3. It's a bit more balanced and slightly warmer.
Both cost 15000 euros.

I live in Holland, so that's why the prices are in euros.

Thanx for answers!

I am not able to answer your question with any knowledge, I'm afraid, but I can offer you a personal opinion having played a C3 studio just once. It's worth first saying that I have become something of a Yamaha enthusiast in recent years, having previously only loved Bosendorfers and thought I would always save up for one of them. I have noticed that the C3 seems to be consistently good (and I've now played loads of examples).

My one playing of a C3 studio was the only time I've been disappointed. The action seemed to be less good (somebody will probably prove me wrong technically!) and I was less able to control (and therefore enjoy) my playing. Shame, but it may of course have been a rogue.
