I had a thought of organising some kind of live recital using Ustream or something similar. What do you guys think? I'm sure the logistics would be tricky, but doable.

The logistics I was thinking of were more about getting several different people in different places to contribute to the same recital. I.e. tune into one channel to hear the first performer, then tune into another to hear the second etc. There would probably be different timezones and so forth.

Could it somehow all be streamed into one channel? (This is not a technology I am terribly familiar with, I'm afraid..)

That was the sort of thing I was thinking yes. I don't think its possible to do it to the same channel. We'd need to synchronise watches and stuff hehe

There is video conferencing software that should be able to get people from multiple parts of the world into the same "room", but I'm not sure how music would sound across it. Used it for business meetings and the like, but never for music. If you could somehow get everyone into the same video conference, and then stream the conference, would that be a decent solution?

It's a great idea. I think it would be fun!

Perhaps if we could get say 5 people on board now, and set a rough date for mid january possibly? Would anybody be interested? Most crucially though, obviously you must have an accessible piano to perform on in a place where you can livestream your playing, preferably some computer knowledge and a good, fast secure internet connection.

I would love to, but my biggest problem is no access to a piano. But if I can help out any other way, I'm happy to.

I'd probably use college pianos/wifi, but it would probably be more convenient for people with pianos in their homes.
