Just so we don't take things too seriously:
Any music jokes out there to share?

I have one oldie.

Q: What sound do you get when you drop a piano down a mine shaft?

I'll just give the punchline to this oldie:

"You really thought I wished for a 12-inch pianist?"

You're forcing me to tell a story. grin

It has nothing to do with piano, but it's true, and it really happened. But I guess I'm repeating myself. ha

A few weeks ago, the lady and I are leaving the house and she starts explaining why she left her car on the street instead of in the driveway -- I know, who cares ha but the thing is, when she started saying "I left my car..." I thought it would be funny to interrupt her with "in San Francisco." Then, as we're driving to dinner, I couldn't resist saying that if Tony Bennett ever decided to have some fun and sing the lyric as "I left my car in San Francisco," probably nobody would notice the difference. I know, it's stupid -- and I wouldn't be repeating it except that when we got to the restaurant, there was a musician playing the piano and singing -- and he was basically doing the best impression of Tony Bennett that you can imagine. And I swear, we had no idea such a guy was going to be there, and there was no way we could possibly have known.

I went up to him and told him about the stupid coincidence of what we'd been talking about on our way there, and said it would make our night if he could sing that song -- and it would be an extra kick if he'd sing "car" instead of heart. So he did -- and indeed, nobody except us realized there was anything wrong with how he was singing it. BTW of course on our way out, we slipped him some extra "consideration" for doing that for us. smile

Just to prove nobody was listening.....I sped up several times while playing 'Music Box Dancer'....[ which happens to be in my 'not so favorite category to play'...or hear].....I was talking to my friends all the while I was speeding up and slowing down and told them nobody would notice......no comments....as I expected....

rada

the SF song also falls into my not so favorite category but you have to love that place!

I'll spare you from the one bad music joke I know and instead share this music-related Webcomic series with the group.

EDIT: I need to link one that is All. Too. True. http://euge.ca/2011/12/30/temptation/

There's always a bunch of funny music items at Classical Music Humor (they have a Facebook page too.)

  • Debussy - Le Petit Nègre, L. 114
  • Haydn - Sonata in Gm, Hob. XVI/44
