Hi all,
I am in the market for a piano for my 7 year old daughter and I saw a new Schulze Pollman Studio Upgrade 122 at a local dealer and I tried to get more information online regarding this piano to very little success. I think this piano is made in China and not in Italy, is that correct? Also I can't find a price guide for this one. Is $6000 reasonable for this piano? Has anyone played this piano before and have more information on how it plays and how it sounds (I don't play myself)? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Pedernales - Welcome to Piano World!
Unless there have been some very recent changes, S-P pianos are an Italian product. They are of very high quality and well respected. If the piano is new, it is a very good price.
The "bible" here at PW is "A&D Piano Buyer" by Larry Fine. You can read the online version by clicking on the link at the left side of this screen.
Are you in the USA? The pianos are not the most common around here.

Thanks for the reply Marty. I think the studio upgrade series is only introduced this year so I can't find much information on it online. If this piano is one of their masterpiece pianos then I would buy it in a heartbeat. And yes I'm in the US.

We recently looked at this piano too and really liked it. I was told that the Stuio and Studio Upgrade line are made in Bulgaria. Only the SP Masterpiece line is made in Italy now. Do you mind me asking where you live? $6k is much less than the prices near me in NJ.

Now I have some more info, which is a little different from tne info that I posted above based on a conversation with a dealer. I emailed Shulze Pollmann in Italy regarding where the Studio Upgrage line of pianos are manufacured and this is the response I received -"This piano is assembled in the factory of our partner company and then finished in our factory in San Marino-Italy by Schulze Pollmann Master Craftsmen. Some of the most important parts, including the soundboard and other components are hand made in Italy with the most prestigious woods available." Perhaps the partner company is the one in Bulgaria. At any rate, we still really liked the SP and it is certainly in the running. If anyone has any thoughts on the manufacturing method/location, I'd love to hear them.
