I'm looking for a keyboard with: I have never found the assignable split for the damper pedal.

1-----Damper pedal control assignable to the split.

2 a great acoustic piano sound

3 split keyboard- with total separation of left and right channels
4 layering of second sound on right or upper split

5-----Real time control of volume control for each voice.

1, 3, 4, and 5 can be determined for certain. 2 is a matter of opinion.

What is your budget?

I think the lowest priced board that meets your criteria would be Casio PX-5S.

In the same $1000 price range, Kurzweil SP4-8, Korg Kross 88, and Yamaha CP33 come close (they all let you split the damper function), but AFAIK, the Yamaha doesn't let you send the split/layered sounds out different channels, and the Kurz and Korg don't have easy real time separate volume control for the split/layered sounds (though you can do things like assign an expression pedal to just one of the sounds). If your budget is higher, you'll have more options from Yamaha, Kawai, Kurzweil, and Roland that are still under $2k that I think will meet all your criteria.

An RD800 will do all of those.

gary0850, as Scott notes, there are a number of boards on the market that meet your requirements. The Casio PX-5S is undoubtedly the king of sub-$1000 boards (I do not have a great deal of experience with Kurzweil), but I believe the Yamaha CP40 and Roland RD-300NX may also fulfil your needs.

As Jay suggests the RD-800 is one of the best boards available, along with the Yamaha CP4 and Kawai MP7/MP11.

If money is no object, you may also wish to look into the Nord Stage 2, which is one of the best 'do everything' boards available, with a pricetag to match.

Cheers,
James
