I see reference to a "Yamaha CF Tool" for regulating and am not sure what the actual name of this tool is. I need it for a regulating class but none of the piano suppliers list one by this name.

A little help?

Thanks!

In the Pianotek Piano Supply catalog it is part #JKE-3 and is called the "double end key easer"
Here's a link: Pianotek Catalog

As for mortises, it is a fast tool suitable for soft woos, but the japanese pliers on the same page, or the German pliers KPL- 5F which can be used without dismounting the keyboard, are really perfect.

the Japanese pliers because they push more in the bottom of the mortise than on the aperture, the opposite of the mortise tool pictured in fact.
The German tool because you can use it in multiple ways, an it is perfect for sharps of any size

But it is a fast tool.

For balance holes, all depend if they are conical inside or no.
Conical : modified rat file to work only where needed (on the opposite side of where the pressure will be, for me).

If I use the Japanese tool on them I use it from the outside only to compress a little, massage the wood on the portion I want to ease. From the inside, it does not work as well (also with thick balance pins)

Fast tightening of balance hole on Japanese keyboards : 70% alcohol (when wood is just compressed, no wear)

The old deer tallow recipe keep the hole from enlarging, and the key from rebounding.
