The space between the black keys is different for each piano.
For example, the space on a Yamaha is not the same
as a Roland.
My middle finger goes smoothly between the black keys on the Roland.
But on the Yamaha move the black neighbor keys a little.
Actually too much.

Why?

We`ve had questions like this before, and it`s good this thorny issue keeps it`s head above water. Imo (I`ve had a good grope with many keyboards) most of the Kawai digitals have narrower black keys and feel very good.. My current Yammie (ghs) has thicker ones than my last one (HE dating back to `98) was better.

I was toying with the idea of replacing the plastic key elements and filing them down (they come in packs of several keys per moulding and are cheap) but I`ve kinda got used to it now. But if you have fat fingers, it becomes a real issue.

Indeed, this is true, and not only for digital pianos, but also for acoustics. Strange, but when choosing a digital piano, I didn't pay attention to this point, although I always knew about it, when I studied at music school, college, conservatory. I will now add this item to my recommendations on what to pay attention to the keyboard of a digital piano. Now my recommendations on the verification of the keyboard include a list of seven points.

Personally, I prefer a narrower black keys than wider. My KAWAI MP7 in this matter is very good, perhaps the Golden mean.
