According to the slides, the CA17 has EX (like what the CA25, 35 etc have) and the SK-EX, but not the SK-5, which is only in 67/97. And all of them in HI-XL, the latest and greatest sample quality Kawai has.

I can't say I agree with this. The person in need of an acoustic will rarely be satisfied with a digital, even one with an action as good as Kawai's GF2. I myself am torn between buying a used CA13 or going down the AP road because of this. The DP offers tools I could really use (not to mention the ability to practice whenever I want), but the connection to the sound is just not there for me.

Sorry, don't mean to turn this into an AP vs DP thread.

What sort of pianos do they use on Melmac?

Similar to the ones on Earth, but with strings made out of cat whiskers.

I would prefer not to comment on speculation.

A weird thing happened. The CA17 disappeared from the link above and does not exist in catalog of stofflermusik anymore...

Cheers

Herr Stoffler might be gone but Herr Krompholz is very much with us, at least for now.

At: www.krompholz.ch/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Kawai-CAx7_deutsch.pdf

I'm really pleased to find a site that shows direct comparision specs for several makes and models.

Page 49 compares the Kawai CA15, the new and elusive Kawai CA17, Yamaha CLP545, and the Roland HP506.

On pages 43 & 44 there is a direct spec chart for the Kawai CA97, Yamaha CLP585, and the Roland LX-15e,
following that, pages 45 & 46 compare the Kawai CA67, Yamaha CLP 575, and the Roland HP-508.

Information re the Kawai Ca17 begins on page 47.

Happy reading.

Finding this information is proving very useful, since I'm shopping for a new DP and all of the models compared here are the ones I am considering, except the Kawai CA97, Roland LX-15e -over budget- and the Yamaha CLP585 -don't like the touch-. At this point, I'm leaning toward the Yamaha CLP575 or the Kawai CA67. Unfortunately I have to wait until the end of April before being able to try the CA67, since the only Kawai dealer has no DP's in stock! The CA17 looks really, really interesting. It seems to fill a niche currently void.

Happily for me, I downloaded and saved the file. Why am I not surprised to see the link gone.

Many thanks to Kawai Europa GmbH for producing such an interesting comparision of Kawai, Yamaha and
Roland pianos.

Anyone taking bets against the CA17 showing up? Not me!

I am actually in the Frankfurt area this week, but not anymore on Friday and Saturday when the show is open for consumers. Too bad, but there you go.

What's the chance of the CA17 being available in the US I wonder? We do not have the CA15, but the inferior CE220 with its AWA PRO II action. Both CA15 and CE220 seems to have very similar prices (using today's exchange rate).

I do not have the budget for the CA67; every store I called to ask about the CE220 tells me I should buy a CN25 instead because they don't carry the CE220 despite being designated stores that should carry the product according to the Kawai website; they all make some excuse then start talking about the CN25. When I tell them I would like a better action, they jump straight to the CA67. I think there's a bit of a gap here. It seems the only way to get a CE220 for someone who lives in the San Francisco area is to order it sight unseen. I would if it were the CA15 with RM3II but I'm not so sure about the AWA PRO II. I'm not sure how they compare. Why not offer the CA15 / CA17 in the US?

So as expected the CA-17 arrived. You can check it out in the European kawai websites.

Also the manual is available here: http://www.kawai-global.com/support/manual/
Thanks *LookinforDP for sharing the link.

I have to say that the new SK EX piano demo on the Kawai.uk website sounds very promising. Its more close to big software pianos sound and with a very slight touch of imperfection/realism if you want to call it compared to the standard EX sample that was available on the CA 15. . .

Hmmm..."Your search for items including the term "CA17" yielded no results." here.

Also, why is the product image missing in your screenshot above?

Cheers,
James

Thomann has it with photo in this link Thomann Espana.
If you type "Kawai CA-17 Thomann" in google it comes out. Some Thomann sites have photo, others not, but the price, availability (01.06) and the rest posted by dominic70s is confirmed...
Cheers
