The music stand on my MP11 is uncomfortably far back for my aging vision. Has anyone tried an adaptation to this stand to bring the music closer? Or if this is not practical, can anyone recommend a separate stand of any sort?

You could buy a keyboard stand with a second tier (the kind that would let you place a second keyboard over the MP11). Then you could put the music rest on the second tier. If you have a drill, you could probably drill holes of the appropriate size/spacing in a two by four and use the MP11's music rest. This wouldn't look pretty, but it would give you the advantage of being able to adjust the height and distance of the music rest to a more suitable position for your eyes. Another possibility would be to measure the distance from the current music rest to your eyes and consult an optometrist or ophthalmologist about getting a set of glasses that would put your eye focus at the position of the sheet music. Maybe call and explain the problem and see if they understand the issue and can help before paying for an exam

I haven't tried anything to improve, as I can read sheet music ok with my glasses.

I purchased the Manhasset M51 Four Score Music Stand; placed it on a square block of wood (2.5"x2.5"x32") painted black; and secured the Manhasset stand to the Kawai music rest so that it sits at a proper angle. The end result is the new stand sits about 5 inches in front of the current stand, and its raised to a more appropriate height. I am very happy with the result. I will try to get a picture posted.

They make clamp on music stands. Clamp them on microphone stands or even on a music stand. Moves the music closer. Change the height. I have a K&M that I like. Don't love it. It isn't very big. It works.

Not MP-11 specific, but I recently bought a magnetic dry erasable white board that I prop up on my keyboard and lean back against the wall. It is by no means "elegant", but it works very well with fridge magnets for single sheets and a couple of 65 lb pull hefty magnets for holding books open. I had INTENDED to cut it down, but I'm getting used to its 36" x 24" size and being able to easily hold 8 sheets has some appeal

I have an MP10 which is very similar. It's because the keyboard is so deep and as on all slab form digitals the controls are on the top so the rest has to go at the back. On something as deep as this it puts the rest very far away. They could have put additional music rest holes at the front for those that would use it though.
I took my old DP's (Yamaha P-35) plastic rest and stuck it on the front of the MP10 with tape. It gets in the way of the controls a bit but is otherwise effective. Do they sell keyboard music rests separately?

I found a piece of thin sheet metal in my basement. I cut it to the same size as the MP 11 music stand. I then took some foam rubber and cut several rectangular sections. Placed one of them on the top of the keyboard. The front just behind the controller dials. The back up against the MP11 music stand. I then placed the "new" sheet metal music stand in an appropriate position perched on the foam and placed the remaining pieces of foam between the original music stand and the back of my new stand. The foam pieces stay in place and even a heavy music book seems stable with this set up. All the controls are uncovered. It took me about 10 minutes of work. I am satisfied.
It is profoundly ugly in appearance but the MP11 is located in an out of the way place for evening practice when I do not use my acoustic so aesthetics are not pertinent.
Thanks everyone for your ideas.

I mentioned I would provide an image. The rest is sitting on a block of wood. It works nicely.

Bet a good stand will be easy to make using some strong metal wire and some cushions for where it comes to contact with the casing.
