Here is a video of Cunningham's piano company restoring a grand piano, which was featured on "How it's made".I do not know whether this has been posted before, apologies if it has. I found it very informative, enlightening me as to what the pin block, action, etc. was. It only lasts ten minutes; I could have watched the whole restoration. I hope other forum members find it equally interesting. Copyright infringement is not intentional, it is intended to be educational.

Hrllo Phil,

Thank you so much for posting this. For those in Europe there is no problem watching this version, but in the USA and perhaps in Canada it cannot be watched due to copyrights.

However, we have permission to show it on our website, so if you would like to watch a version of the video and you cannot see the YouTube video, Click Here.

If you can see both versions, you will notice that each region has its own voiceover (It has also been translated into 13 languages). I personally like the UK version better (YouTube version).

Thank you again for posting Phil.

Hi Rich, have you got any more videos available, If not do you intend to make any? I love watching craftsmen at work; I'm glad the craftsmanship required to repair and maintain pianos is being preserved for the generations to come.

That piano was a great example of an 'old' piano. Makes one cringe to see such deterioration and dirt.

I'm technically very capable. I love my piano and love tinkering with it.

Hi Cynthia,

Actually all of the filming was done in two days! So, you are actually seeing many different pianos in the different phases of restoration.

When we were choosing one to disassemble with the director, he wanted the worst one possible.... so we gave that to him. smile

(They do not all look that dusty/dirty)

I figured as much, but the dirt and wear really got you into the right mood for the rest of the video.

We do plan on making more videos, but we have nothing as comprehensive as this one right now. Stay tuned though. We have some cool projects in the works.
