Can anyone give me a value range for a 2004 Baldwin Hamilton H391 in excellent condition? I am having a tech look at this piano tonight, but I would like to confirm year and reasonable value range.

Model: H391
Serial Number: M208023
Length: 4'7"
Finish: Black HPE
Circa: 2004

Thank you,

Andy

First: "Excellent condition" and "having a tech look at this piano" seems almost contradictory.

Of course, every used piano should be inspected by a reputable technician. If the "excellent condition" statement comes from one who does not know much about pianos (maybe a private seller), then having a tech inspect it is very important. If, however, the piano is known to be "in excellent condition" then why is it being further inspected?

As for price range, given that the above suggests that the true condition may not really be known, it's risky to even suggest a range. I see that one was recently sold by a US dealer for $6500.00. However, a 4'7" grand is not a size that most serious pianists would even consider, and a better option would be a quality upright.

Your best bet is to ask the technician, based on his assessed condition of the piano, what he things its value might be. Remember, too, that value of a used piano can vary considerably depending on location and the local market.

Regards,

BruceD

Understood. As you suggested, the "excellent condition" description is that of the seller, thus the scheduled inspection (initiated by myself). Assuming the results are concordant with the description, is $4500 a reasonable asking price?
