Hello. I am new to the forum. I am auto-learning to play piano.
I have found a problem with a score(my heart will go on). You have to play the same key (fa) with two fingers at the same time, one of the left hand and one of the right hand. Sometimes the key is already pressed with one right hand finger and it seems you have to press is with a left hand finger. Any clue how to play this. I enclose a link to a picture of one page, but there a many cases like this in the score with the fa note. Thanks.

Hi jopiang,

Welcome to the forums.

In this case, I would play it with the right hand and just ignore it with the left. If you were playing accompianment (that is left hand only) while someone else sings the melody, then I would play it with the left hand.

In general, I would not play a note like this twice unless it was needed as part of the melody line.

Rich

Rich is correct. Just play it with the RH in these two cases. You don't strike the key twice.

In general, this is a common notation and means the same note is part of the melody and part of the accompaniment. It's written in both places so that the notation comes out even on both staffs. You can't just leave a hole in the lower staff; you have to fill out the count for the measure with rests or, in this case, showing the duplicate note.
