Hai to all smile

I am new here and this is my first post. Now i am here for a help.I dedicated all my ambitions to learn piano seriously.I am a beginner aged 22.Playing my second grade lessons.i decided to devote this year -from this november to next november- ENTIRELY to learn piano and take 5th grade.

I can practice 12 hours everyday and i have the mind too.But here comes the actual question for me."What to practice?"
In my piano class i am learning two little pieces per week. It is really nice. But to gain full advantage of my practice hours i think experinced people can suggest a TIME TABLE.really i mean a TIME TABLE.

Wat stuffs to practice to gain the maximum benefit? Regarding fingering excercises, Scale and chord excercises, how to start the day, wat for improving various skills etc etc.I am really confused and really wish somebody help me.

I want to know if you have 12 hours a day to practice piano how u are going to use it?

i hope u understood and having a mind to help me.

Much much thanks in advance heart

Basil, try posting this on the piano teachers forum. I think they'd be better able to help you.

Honestly, are you sure about 12 hours a day? That means you will have no other life - no studies, no work, nothing.

HI Basil, you're asking a very good question. The first thing I'm seeing as that you say you are learning two pieces a week. You have not mentioned technique, scales, studies - so when you ask "what" to practice - what are you being taught? Do you have a private teacher? It would be good to tell your teacher how serious you are, and to help you plan your practicing. Your teacher might also change some of the things (s)he is teaching. Teachers have learned that we adults prefer to learn pieces and not do some of the more boring or harder things and they won't know anything different unless students tell them. The story just came up in another forum. So it would be good to bring this up with your teacher.

12 hours might not be effective. If you get tired and your mind wanders you'll practice error into what you're doing, and your body will start to sag from tiredness. Then you won't be playing well. You might even injure yourself.

You can achieve Grade 5 within this next year with less amount of time but focused and goal oriented practice. I began at about grade two at the beginning of this year, and practicing aproximately 2 hours a day I´ve achieved Grade five standard this month. It´s best to not overdo yourself with 12 hours of practice a day which I wouldn´t recommend because it could cause injuries.

Also, if you have that much time in your hands next year, I would recommend complementing your practice of classical piano (along pieces, you should have technique exercises and sight reading) with studies in music theory, ear training, and music history. Even some study in popular piano and basic improvisation would broaden your musical abilities a lot.
