Piano Teacher Composer Edward Nemirovsky.

Classical Music and Jazz.
Piano lessons, Theory of Music, Harmony, Music Composition, Orchestration techniques and Film Score creating.
Edward Nemirovsky Piano Teacher and Composer in New York City, Manhattan. Holds a Master’s degree in Music. More than 35 years of professional experience in pedagogy at all levels and as a piano teacher. A professional composer and pianist. Genres include symphonic, instrumental, chamber music, music for voice and solo instruments, children’s music and theatrical music. Film Scores by Edward Nemirovsky were presented at many international film festivals.
My teaching method differs radically from music lessons given at public schools. It is traditional and similar to the method used in the previous musical period in Europe where the traditions of classical music were established. One of the clearest distinguishing features of my teaching method is individual work with a specific student rather than a group of students. It is this individual approach to the unique character of a given student that constitutes the very crux of my methodology. In my opinion, only by using this method is it possible to open up the world of the highly intellectual art of classical music for students.
The techniques I use for teaching students consist of the following:
* A patient and considerate approach to the individual characteristics and age of the student.
* The search for a special technique for each individual student.
* A selection of a repertoire reflecting the musical interest of the specific student including a broad selection of musical styles: classical, popular, jazz, etc.
* As necessary, the technical performance of each musical composition can be specially simplified by professional musicians giving a beginning student the ability to perform any popular classical pieceor modern song as he or she wishes.
* “Easy to understand”method for learning Theory of music, Music Composition, Orchestration techniques, Film Score creating, Jazz Harmony progressions and improvisation.
We all have a little dream, but we always put it off to the distant future. We're just too busy! Life is slipping by in of pursuit of money. There is no room even for this little dream. I am telling you that there is room for this dream.

I am a professional musician and full-time piano teacher. I've discovered the most important thing is to make piano lessons fun. My experience as an active performer and professional composer for film and media expand the depth and effectiveness of my teaching.
I teach a well-rounded music education program that focuses on reading music, performing, composing, improvisation, and music theory. My students learn to develop a relaxed and natural piano technique - preventing harmful habits or injury.
My student-centered teaching method allows students to play music they like and want to learn while incorporating a solid foundation of classic piano literature. I provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their child's piano lessons by recording and podcasting their weekly progress.
Please contact me to enroll in piano lessons. More information is available on my website:
Here are some quotes from my students and parents:
“You have a true gift in working with children. Your patience, gentle persistence and praise give your students a safe environment to try new things. You have shown Claire that trying something new can be rewarding. As a result she has a new found confidence to experiment with music and try new things in other areas.” - Rusty W.
“BTW, Eli continues to really enjoy piano. There are many times when he'll just sit down to play with no prompting from me... which I value very highly. And I think much of this is a tribute to how enjoyable you make the whole process. So thanks.” - Julie S.
“Mike was creative and energetic and made the learning interesting and fun for our daughter. He is a born teacher -- engaging, excited, interested, and respectful of his students. We have pinched ourselves these last 3 years for finding such a wonderful teacher and person.” - Aimee W.
“You’ve been great for Bella, and we feel quite blessed to have had you for the last two years.” - Renee G. “...we are impressed with how much she has learned and with the fact that she actually likes to sit down and play the piano on her own.” - David B.
“By the way, we love the work Patrick has been doing with you.”
- Tana L.
“Eleanor is very happy with the pieces. She came up and told me about them right away. Thanks for finding a solution that she is content with.” - Missy B.

To aspiring and professional pianists who want to practice with less struggle and break through to a new level of performance:
No matter how much we love the piano or how hard we work at it, practicing and performing can be frustrating.
While we’re trying to coordinate our hands in a passage we’re practicing, all the sounds and emotions in the music are flooding our system, making it hard to focuson the details of phrasing, fingering, pedaling, and dynamics. Overwhelmed by these demands, we often push ourselves harder—repeating passages in a joyless, desperate way, forcing ourselves to play louder or faster, racking our brains to come up with the ideal shape for a phrase, or trying to rev up the kind of emotional intensity that we think the music should have.
We end up tense and less able to think clearly or play musically.
Finally, when we perform, stage fright can make us panic, destroy our confidence, and wreak havoc with the performance we’ve spent so much time preparing.
Productive practicing and true music-making happen when you’re in a state of flow—when your body and mind are working with ease.
Since 1985, I’ve helped pianists release tension and open up their playing through a step-by-step approach I developed called the Art of Practicing. This approach combines state-of-the-art piano technique with mental and sensory techniques to help you enjoy each moment of practicing and to build ease, communicative power, and confidence for performance.
You can learn this approach and experience more freedom in making music.
I wish you much joy and success with the piano.

Hello. Thanks for having a look at my page. I'm a patient and experienced teacher. Lots of professional credits. Lots of education. I have a console upright acoustic piano in my east village apt where we will have our lessons. Also have a website and online music samples and videos for you to get to know me before deciding to make an appointment.
You are never TOO old to start having some fun with the piano ... And if you had a couple of piano lessons long ago but barely remember anything, that is fine just fine ... I love students like that ... We can easily shine up that dirty diamond ... That distant memory is enough to build the new foundation on ... But this time with your clever adult brain putting the pieces together.
If you had a few lessons years ago and regret never continuing, here is a GREAT opportunity. If you are already advanced on the piano but want to learn to jam and improvise and stretch out your musical vocabulary, then this is a GREAT opportunity. If you have never played piano at all and are curious how to work that magic with your fingers, then this is a GREAT opportunity.
I offer barter opportunities to help make it easier for students to get on that beautiful path of music. I've had very good experiences with this in the past. Bartering can be an excellent way to get started if you are on the fence about moving forward with some lessons. Ultimately the best and most useful barter for me is just cash, but I am very flexible with part cash part barter type of situations. My normal rates are $40/half hour $60/45 minutes and $75/hour. Whatever you offer to barter with should be something of value that you have in abundance that you can trade without straining yourself too much. So both sides feel they are getting fair and good deal.
Studying the piano is one of those multidimensional paths that has incredibly positive effects in more than one direction. The piano is truly a beautiful thing. The whole orchestra at your fingertips. Let's get to work!

Here is an abbreviated performance bio:
Described by the American Record Guide as a pianist whose playing “was as smooth as velvet,” David Shimoni has performed extensively throughout the United States. He has appeared in recital in New York’s Zankel Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Museum of Modern Art. He has also performed at the Barns at Wolf Trap, the Chicago Cultural Center, the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, the Dallas Museum of Art, and Columbia, Princeton, Cornell, and Stanford Universities.
Born in Chapel Hill, NC, Mr. Shimoni attended the North Carolina School of the Arts during high school and earned a B.A. from Swarthmore College. He then received the Vladimir Horowitz Scholarship to study at the Juilliard School, where he obtained masters degrees in both solo and collaborative performance. In 2001 Mr. Shimoni was the first-prize winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Young Artist Auditions, which sponsored two years of recitals throughout the United States. He has been a guest artist at the Chautauqua, Brevard, Moab, Foothills, and Rockport music festivals, and his performances have been broadcast on radio stations WGBH-Boston, WFMT-Chicago, and WQXR-New York.
Now about my teaching:
I have had a private studio for fourteen years, during which I have taught children, amateurs, college students, and professionals. Regardless of the age or experience that a student brings, my goal is for the student to find playing personally enriching and musically satisfying.
As a teacher, my work begins by helping to make a student’s playing comfortably coordinated. This is what enables the student to be musically expressive. Twenty years ago I discovered the Taubman approach to piano playing, a physiologically based set of principles that frees pianists from physical strain and technical limitations. Using these principles, I have helped all of my students to attain new levels of technical facility and musical clarity.
I have been on the accompanying and teaching staff of The Juilliard School, Brooklyn College, the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the Ravinia Steans Institute. I have also given master classes and educational workshops at schools throughout the United States and at the World Piano Pedagogy Conference. Finally, in order to give my students more opportunities to perform, I am a member of the Leschetizky Association and Piano Teachers Congress of New York.
I invite you to contact me for a half-priced trial lesson at any of the locations where I teach.

While the core curriculum draws from the finest in traditional conservatory education, our work is supplemented to provide a broader cultural context, maximize physical freedom, and promote intellectual and creative independence. Decades of research have shown that music lessons boost academic performance, IQ and a range of other abilities. Recent neurological studies witness the benefits in the development of the brain itself. Kaplan Piano Studio seeks to encourage this broader development, while fostering a mastery and love of music.
Daniel Kaplan has studied piano, composition and theory at Eastman School of Music, U. Rochester, Cleveland Institute of music. Mr. Kaplan studied under renowned pedagogue, Madeline Bruser, and participated actively in her teacher training workshops. He is currently attending Columbia University.

At the Chelsea Arts Music Studio, I specialize in teaching beginning and intermediate piano students how to sightread with ease, how to effectively analyze each piece of music they encounter, and, most importantly, how to trust themselves as a player and musician.
My name is Sara, and it is my goal as a teacher to make sure that each of my students, from young children to adults, approaches the piano with grace, freedom, and joy. I am a nurturig and caring instructor that seeks to help students establish a lifelong love for the piano and for music. Through gentle encouragement, lively discussions about musical ideas and patterns, and the intelligent application of technique, students will become excellent sightreaders of classical and popular music, and will maintain an enthusiastic and ongoing interest in the piano.
Students at the Chelsea Arts Music Studio learn proper position at the bench, easy and graceful hand technique, effective sightreading strategies, beginning to advanced music theory, and popular piano styles. I work with students on all styles of music, including pop and rock lead sheets, but I guide each of my students in playing classical pieces as well, in order to encourage independence of the fingers, good sightreading of the grand staff, and familiarity with musical motives and cadences. I strongly emphasize the building of a solid sense of rhythm and make sure all of my students gain familiarity with many different kinds of rhythmic patterns.
The focus on music theory, sightreading, rhythm, hand technique, and popular and classical piano styles makes the Chelsea Arts Music Studio the place for gaining a healthy and complete music education.

I trained at Berklee College of Music, New York University, as well Manhattan School of Music and achieved a Master of Music Degree.
I teach Jazz as well as Classical, Pop, and Blues with emphasis on technique and theory for any ability and age level. I have been teaching for more than ten years.
Mastering piano is certainly a challenge. It takes time, dedication, discipline and lots of hard work and practice. There are no "genius musicians." Behind any successful artist is a lot of perseverance and dedication to practice.
If one is determined and works hard, one will become a great pianist. I can guarantee it. This approach however, is not for everyone. I also believe that music should be fun. Even if you don't have the ambition to become a professional that's alright. For adults, music can be a wonderful emotional stress reliever. For children the piano can play a part in early childhood development. Learning the piano also provides a sense of great accomplishment for people at all levels of ability. My teaching is depends on students need. I'm very flexible and patient.
It's fun to play the piano! Let's make Joy, Harmony, and Smile!

With experience teaching privately to students ages 4 and up, including many adult students, I have continued the musicianship-first teaching philosophy that I was fortunate enough to have been brought up on. While recognizing that not all students who start piano lessons have the intent or interest in becoming concert pianists, my teaching style reaches out to each individual student, with the goal of finding the aspects of music that speak to them and their personal interests. Having performing experience in a variety of mediums and across many genres, has proven very helpful in finding that unique connection that keeps my students not only interested, but enthusiastic about music and the piano.
I am a young, enthusiastic, personable, and down-to-earth pianist and teacher in Brooklyn. Whether you are looking to better yourself in classical, jazz, blues, gospel, pop, all of the above, or something else entirely, send me an email and come by for a completely FREE trial lesson. There's no reason you should feel at risk when trying out a piano teacher. I completely understand and recognize that not all students and teachers are perfect matches for each other. So let's find out how well we work together (for free.)
You can read more about my background, schooling, experience, and what I'm up to now as a full-time working musician in NYC by visiting my webpage www.poddability.com/adam Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I am extremely approachable and friendly, and I look forward to your inquiries as you search for the right piano teacher.
