A440-William R. Monroe Piano Services, Inc.
I am Bill Monroe, a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) member of the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG), and owner of A440-William R. Monroe Piano Services, Inc. I am a graduate (with honors) of the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology, and have been fortunate to have also received training from Yamaha, as well as Factory Training with Steinway & Sons in NY. I am also a regular attendee at PTG seminars and conferences, as I believe strongly that I am forever a student.
Tuning:
I provide basic tuning, repair and regulation services for my clients in their homes, churches, studios, schools, and dealerships on a day-to-day basis. I first learned tuning in the traditional aural (“by ear”) method, and I continue to tune aurally (by ear), but have added electronic tuning as another tool. I have found that both approaches have advantages and neither approach is perfect. I have developed preferences for aural tuning in some situations, and electronically aided tuning in others, but in every case, the ear is always the final arbiter. The tuning MUST sound good, not just make the computer happy.
Restoration:
I maintain a full, climate controlled shop in which I perform complete Custom Restoration and Rebuilding of Fine Grand Pianos. I have a kinship for pianos that continues to grow with each restoration that passes through my shop. Most frequently I find myself restoring and rebuilding Steinway & Sons grand pianos, though many other makes of pianos find their way in and out of my shop. I restore and rebuild pianos both for private clients as well as for the trade. Restoration candidates frequently come to my shop from other parts of the state, or the country. My restoration work is something I take very seriously, and I work very hard to deliver only the best. I will happily provide references for my work upon request.
Other Services:
I frequently perform other piano services as requested, including:
• Purchase Consultations • Written Estimates • Written Appraisals • Humidity Control System Installation • Finish Touch-Up (Polyester & Lacquer) • Key Top Replacement • Historic (Non-Equal) Temperament Tuning • Performance Piano Preparation
Products:
I provide a complete range of piano related products as well, including:
• Caster Cups • Finish Care Products • Lamps • Benches & Bench Pads • Grand Piano String Covers • Piano Covers • Humidity Control Systems
